Recipe: Gin & Elderflower Cocktail

Is there any better way to celebrate warmer weather than with a gin cocktail you can whip up in five minutes and enjoy in the comfort of your own home?

This cocktail is a flower bomb explosion of delicate elderflower and clean-cut gin. Not to mention, the flower and herb ice cubes celebrate all the natural beauty around us.

Addmore elderflower cordial is New Zealand made in Geraldine and celebrates the uniqueness of this edible flower. Each flower used in their products is hand-selected across the region, which I think is just lovely. The cordial itself gives a magical opal look to this cocktail that really transforms into something spectacular. The Source gin was kindly bought for me by James and I’ve got to say it is quickly becoming my new favourite. Made by The Cardrona Distillery, it has a beautifully refreshing mix of rosehip, traditional juniper, coriander seed, angelica root plus lemon, and orange zest.

This DIY cocktail is super fast and easy - yet looks incredibly sophisticated. Without too much alcohol, it serves as a refreshing cooler to your boozy brunch or bbq dinners, but would still look the part at a wedding or other special event.


Elderflower & Gin Cocktail


  • The leaves of 2 Thyme sprigs

  • The leaves of 2 Rosemary Sprigs

  • 8 edible flowers (such as pansies and rose petals)

  • 150ml elderflower cordial (I recommend Addmore I bought mine from my local Liquorland)

  • 150ml gin (I used The Source)

  • Ice

  • 330ml of Sparkling Water or Soda Water



Fill an ice cube tray of water and submerge the edible herbs and flowers into each cube. Freeze until solid (about 2-3 hours)

STEP 2 Using wide-rimmed champagne glasses, or any cocktail glass of your choice, portion out the elderflower cordial into each glass before adding the gin and 2-3 regular ice cubes. Stir until the glass gin and cordial are well mixed.


Top the glasses with sparkling water or soda water. Before popping in the flower and herb ice cubes. Serve immediately.
